AlgaeShape is a knowledge-based service that allows designers to use sodium alginate in combination with textiles. Sodium alginate is a salt extracted from brown seaweed and can be made into gels with different properties. It is ideal to use for iterations since the curing can be easily reversed by placing it in water with baking soda.

Learning Points
This project is illustrative for my bachelor; having multiple interests and not focusing on a specific topic. Since I have a personal interest in soft materials, e.g. sewing and knitting, I felt most at place in a project working with these materials. However, during this project I realized that my professional interests and strengths are more in the areas of research, MDC and T&R.
During this project I documented every sample and experiment, this was especially useful for a material-driven project but I have carried this practice over to other projects. I always have a notebook with me to findings, feedback, sudden thoughts, etc. down. This encourages reflection in action and helps when reflecting at the end, it makes your progress more tangible.
